Katy -Henry Dibrell, an 8 year resident of Katy and father of four Katy ISD students, announced his re-election campaign for Katy Independent School District’s Board of Trustees.

“I have worked hard to help ensure that every child in Katy ISD has an opportunity to succeed in life and accomplish his or her goals. We need strong leadership to continue the high standards of academic excellence established by Katy Independent School District, and set the goals of our community. As a school Board Trustee I will continue to search for fresh perspectives and solutions that give our students, our district and this community positive solutions to the challenges we face.”

In his three year term as a Trustee, Henry has fought for excellence in student success, and academic achievement. He has worked to increase opportunities for students in Fine Arts, S.T.E.M., and Sports.  He has championed transparency by having school board meetings available online so the public may watch at their leisure. Dibrell continues to improve communication by spearheading “The Exchange,” a program where the board meets with the community and engages in dialogue. He has also supported fiscal responsibility and has helped maintained a zero increase in our tax rate for the seventh straight year even in the midst of incredible growth.

Henry and his wife of 21 years currently have three children attending schools in Katy ISD and one recent graduate of the district who now attends Sam Houston State University. Henry volunteers in the Katy ISD schools and has coached football for his son’s team.

Henry, who has over twenty years of non-profit experience, is a positive role model for our youth. Growing up in a home with an illiterate parent, tight budget and in a rural community, Mr. Dibrell has overcome many obstacles on his road to success. He is a graduate of Northwestern University and a licensed minister.

As Executive Director of the Amobi Okoye Foundation, a non-profit organization that works to ensure young people stay in school and receive a quality education, he has dedicated his life to helping children through education and improving their self-image through achievement. He brings the experience of working in a non-profit organization where human capital is the greatest asset.

Mr. Dibrell brings fiscal conservatism to the job, always remembering that the money the school district spends comes from  the tax payers of the community.
